Just Ordered A Nokia N800
Play.com have the Nokia N800 for just £129.99 [It's now priced £149.99 which is still cheaper than some places], which is around £50-60 cheaper than almost everywhere else! I just had to buy one, what a bargain. Although it's almost Christmas, it's already been posted and I hope it arrives tomorrow or Monday so I get to play with it over the break.
UPDATE: It arrived Monday morning, and I've been playing around with it like crazy. I tried upgrading to OS2008 but discovered that there were a few applications that I really wanted to fiddle with that haven't been updated yet, so I've downgraded to OS2007 for now.
The Vagalume Last.fm client is awesome by the way. Been listening to My Neighbours Radio quite a bit, nice to hear some new music that I'd probably never listen to otherwise.
UPDATE 2: 2 things...
1) I've upgraded to OS2008 again, I realised that Dates wasn't that great to go backwards for, and GPE Calendar had been made compatible with Chinook already. I'm sure Dates will eventually be upgraded too, there are just too many nice things about OS2008 that I missed by downgrading.
2) I have realised that by saying that you love a song on the Vagalume Last.fm client (I would imagine the same goes for the official Windows one too) it will scrobble it, otherwise there is no lasting record of you listening to it. Makes sense I suppose! I'll just have to remember to hit the "Love It" button if I really do want people knowing what I've been listening to on My Neighbours radio.
UPDATE 3: Play.com put the price up to £169.99.
UPDATE 4: Play.com now has it for £149.99! A saving of £150 off the RRP.
Canola2 (in beta) is crazy cool by the way. I can't wait for UPnP support - the only thing I think it's missing.

Cannabis Smoke 'Has More Toxins'
Inhaled cannabis smoke has more harmful toxins than tobacco, scientists have discovered. The Canadian government research found 20 times as much ammonia, a chemical linked to cancer, New Scientist said.
The Health Canada team also found five times as much hydrogen cyanide and nitrogen oxides, which are linked to heart and lung damage respectively.
But tobacco smoke contained more of a toxin linked to infertility. Experts said users must be aware of the risks.
Not sure how much truth there is, since it's a government commissioned report, food for thought.

IE8 Passes Acid2
Dean Hachamovitch from IEBlog writes:
As a team, we’ve spent the last year heads down working hard on IE8. Last week, we achieved an important milestone that should interest web developers. IE8 now renders the “Acid2 Face” correctly in IE8 standards mode.
About damn time!

Duke Nukem Forever Teaser
It's only been 11 years since the release of Duke Nukem 3D, so here's the brand new teaser trailer for DNF! Maybe it'll be released next year... but I won't hold my breath.

The Dark Knight Trailer
Finally, the official trailer is out! Unfortunately we still have to wait until July before it opens in cinemas. I simply cannot wait, I have been looking forward to a sequel to Batman Begins from the moment the end credits on the first movie rolled. Christian Bale and Christopher Nolan have breathed new life into an ailing franchise totally ruined by George Clooney's nipples. Heath Ledger looks awesome as the new Joker, I was worried that he'd just not be able to pull it off, after the masterful performance that Jack Nicholson did in the original Batman movie.
Hopefully the trailer will stay up on YouTube for a while, quite a few copies have been taken down already!
Or just go and watch it at the official site where you can download it in 3 varying qualities.

La Phaze
The other night when I was at the Gogol Bordello gig, their support act was a French band called La Phaze. I had never heard of them before, but I enjoyed being introduced to their music. I'm not entirely sure what genre they fall into, they seem to switch between punk, jungle, drum'n'bass, electro etc.
I recommend you check out Assaut Final, great song.

Gogol Bordello
On the 8th, I went to see Gogol Bordello for the 2nd time. The first time I saw them was last year, and I was just blown away by how absolutely amazing and energetic they are live. I get worn out just watching them jumping around on stage. Last night was just incredible - I love this band so much! No one else quite plays a mean Fire Bucket like Eugene!!
I started out just 3 rows back off to the left side, but after a while I just got too squashed and pushed around (could hardly move!), too hot (christ it was boiling up there!) and too sticky with sweat (and the beer some drunken twat had chucked over me) so I ended up moving away from the front after about half an hour and went nearer the back where there was a lot more room to jump around.
I've put together a playlist of videos I found on YouTube taken at the gig, 5 recorded by one person and the 6th by another, both standing right at the front of the crowd. From what I can tell, they must've been almost right in front of where I started out.
I didn't bother recording any video of my own this time, but I did take a couple of photos.

Taken during Think Locally, Fuck Globally
And lastly this one, which is nothing but a blur due to me moving the cam while the picture was being taken, and has actually turned out to be quite cool.
PS: I'm going to see them again in April! Woo!!
