Family Lunch

Bleh, haven't updated in a while, have I? I'm slacking! Anyway, here's what happened on Sunday... the only exciting thing to happen since my last blog.

As Dan should've been away at Uni when my mum had her birthday (he did come back unexpectedly!), my parents decided to wait till his Easter holidays so we could all go to have a nice family lunch... with both of my grandmothers (and Roy).

When we were all ready to set off for the Ashdown Park Hotel, my dad's mother did her usual bit of being rude, and insulted me - she said I had "a bit of a belly" and said I needed to get out and do some exercise. I could've said something, but I just let it slide. She's just rude, we all know it... and it's best not to say anything or it'll just make the situation worse.

My mum and Dan went in my dad's car, my dad went with her mum and I went with Nanny and Roy in theirs. We got to the hotel and went to the lounge and sat down to have a drink before our table was ready. We all ordered drinks and sat and talked for a while, the Maitre'D brought us the menus and we ordered our food.

For starters, I ordered a Bacon and Potato Terrine with Garlic Mayonnaise. Then for main course I ordered the Roast Beef and Yorkshire Pudding (YUM!!).

After my nan had tried pissing me off again by asking me what I did with my time, which I just ignored and my dad helpfully gave the silly answer "stuff", our table was now ready, so we went through to the dining room. It seemed to take ages for everyone to decide where everyone wanted to sit, but eventually we did manage to all sit down.

Soon, the starters arrived, and the empty plates left again pretty soon after. The terrine was very nice, but not really a big enough portion! LOL.

The waiters started to serve the main course.... beans and brocolli was placed onto a side plate by everyone, and most people were eating beef, so they put out a yorkshire pudding on each of the plates, then three roast potatoes, and then 2 thick slices of roast beef.

The beef was so delicious... melted in the mouth. I love Sunday lunch at Ashdown Park, always very tasty :) The rest of the food was good too ;) For dessert... I had a slice of chocolate tarte. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO chocolatey... yum! Very good, shame I couldn't have seconds lol.

After dinner, we all went to sit back in the lounge, and my dad's mum went home - she always leaves early. I think everyone else was rather glad of that though. She can be pretty tiring lol. Dan and I went down to the games room and (attempted) to play a round of snooker. I'm no good at it at all, but somehow I did manage to pot a couple of reds! Dunno how... just a fluke I guess. We got bored with that after a while, mainly cos we were no good at potting the balls... so we went back upstairs, and soon left the hotel.

When we got back home, we put on a DVD - Dan chose The Rock (good movie), about halfway through my grandmother and Roy decided to leave... so they left, and we waved them off. That was the end of a very good day all things considered :)
